Olmecs A Captivating Guide to the Earliest Known Major Ancient Civilization in Mexico eBook Captivating History Reviews

  • I really enjoyed this book about the Olmec culture. I had never heard about this culture prior to reading this great book. This book along with many of the other Captivating History books makes me wonder how much of history I was never exposed to in school history books and classes.

I highly recommend this book. I was surprised by the number of photos of various different artifacts.
  • The Olmec are a people history remembers very little about, but what things have been glimpsed and theorized about them seems to all be in here. The theories are treated with skepticism and both the arguments for and against are shown.
  • Very interesting history! And true! Africans came across the Atlantic long before Columbus and settled on East Coast of Mexico! Who else could build a pyramid!
  • The Olmecs were a very interesting, very early people of eastern Mexico. Their sculptures tell us much about their times and their lives. they were tradesmen farmers, and fishermen. Their bigger than life sculptures leave more questions than answers. Fascinating.
  • Very informative, got a lot of things straight, and brings out the beauty of the mesoamerican history.
